Nashville, TN holds a special place in my heart. This year I was excited to go back to my favorite places.
My was the first time I went to Nashville was on business trip for a conference in 2019 and my friend and I planned some Nashville adventures to squeeze in during our off time. We had a mix of things to do, but mostly places that were off the beaten path and where the locals like to eat or shop. Besides music and food, we were going to squeeze in some speakeasies for fun too!
Luckily, my friend lived in the south for many years, and was a biscuit fan too. We had our list but wanted to ask a Nashville native for some great breakfast places to eat, and Biscuit Love was one of their suggestions. If you live in Nashville, brunches are famous. Just about every place had an hour or more wait, but we didn’t mind. It was part of the experience. Our two breakfast choices were close to each other so my friend and I split up to see whose line was moving faster. I won! And she joined me in the faster moving line. We took a seat at the counter. I love sitting at counters - you get to see all of the action and chat with the workers and whoever sits next to you. Looking at the delicious menu…What to order? Or, rather, what not to order? We ordered so many dishes, you would have thought it was our last meal! Afterwards, we bought merch - love my t-shirt, and ordered biscuits to go! I snacked on some that night in the hotel room and the rest of the biscuits travel back home with me New England. My family enjoyed every bite. Now I seek out biscuits during my travels.
BISCUIT LOVE has several locations. We went to the one in HILLSBORO VILLAGE.
Other places to visit:
On Broadway
Tootsie's Orchid Lounge - This famous place has been around since 1960 when Hattie Louise “Tootsie” Bess purchased the bar that was originally named Mom’s. This is a three floor music bar with local bands playing all day long. If you go, and the line is long, don’t worry, the line moves.
Edgehill Neighborhood
Barcelona Wine Bar - a lively and delicious restaurant serving the best tapas and sangrias!
Old Glory Nashville is a speakeasy around the corner from Barcelona Wine Bar - stop in for a specialty cocktail before or after dinner. You have to find the golden triangle off of Edgehill Avenue for the entrance. Old Glory is in the former White Way Cleaners boiler room that has been transformed into this fun bar/lounge. It even has the original electrical boxes, coal hopper, and smoke stack that were in use in the 1920s.
